I see, just a pain to maintain, i just bought the K&N because i got a good deal were i work. hes a dealer. havent really thought about trying a regular filter on the dyno then trying the k&n. they are a bitch to clean and re-oil. maybe i'll make a change.

No - not because I dont like to clean it. They actually filter better when they are dirty. I run a AFE Proguard 7.

Some people dont like the oil thats associated with the oiled filters - feel they pass too much dirt through. Its hard to find a good high flow filter that acutally filters well. With filters, you usally have good filtration with little flow, or just the opposte - good flow and poor filtration - so theres usually a tradeoff, you get one or the other.

I dont think youre getting it - you can buy just the washable filter for around $55...and run it just like a BHAF - you dont have to buy the whole intake (although I did).

Not only is it a pain to clean and oil them but some people have seen the oil get sucked thru and into the turbo, im thinking of buying a Amsoil 4510 (i believe is the number) here in the near future and running it off the stock hose

i got an AFE Pro Dry filter, cleaned it many of times and still running well, damn my exhaust leak in the down pipe for clogging it and collapsing it!! But still, a great filter and without the hastle of oiling it or replacing it!!
