advice for p pump

set the #1 cylender on the pump to the lift you want and roll engine till #1 power cylender is at tdc put pump gear back on and check timing ... this is the way we did it this weekend for my buddy's 24v ppump swap.

i know about the cam and crank, the pump shouldnt be hard then

pump is no prob when you do it like this IMO

if nothing else go to a injection shop have them set the timing on the pump to where you want it [cheaper than buying the tools] set tining on your engine w/the push pin tool under where your pump mounts, clean the tapered shaft and the inner mounting surface of the gear[ do not use any type of oil or other lube it could cause your timing to slip while running], install gear in housing, install pump on to housing carefully not to scar shaft and dont move it, bolt it down, next gently push timing gear up on shaft and install washer and nut before you tighten it up gently rotate the gear in the standard direction of rotation to remove as much gear lash as possible, [ only gonna get a hair of movement if any] tighten up nut have somebody keep the engine from moving and torque that dude down to specs, and when you start it back up pull inlet hose off of turbo and have a pice of clean wood or heavy plastic to choke it in case it trys to run away on initial startup, and i will pm you my phone number in case you need to call me ,

you do not need any special tools at all to do this...

Align the timing marks on the drive gears (the '0' marks) then before installing the pump, pull the timing pin out of the pump and spin it over till the little 'arm' comes around to the hole and lines up so that the timing pin can be installed backwards to lock it in. Then install the pump, finger tighen the pump nut, remove the timing pin and turn it around and reinstall the nut. tighten the pump nut to 145lbft and your gravy. Keep in mind this will only get you the timing that the pump was set up with at the factory (somewhere around 12.5-13.5* depending on year)

its a 215 pump so it would be arround 14-14.5* if you do it that way ... but goin from 18.5* back to stock is gonna suck

215s were 13.5* stock well thats what my tag says
