Default fuel plates

i have a 95 12 valve cummins with almost 130 miles on the clock. i pull a 32 ft. travel trailer (9000lbs loaded) and going up long grades the motor just does'nt seem like i has enoungh steam to get up them. so i was looking at doing the fuel plate to give me some pulling power, but what plate # im not sure about. im thinking #8 or #6. ive already rebuilt the tranny (shift kit , billet converter, hd clutches, upped line press.), im looking for longevity and to get good mileage . any suggestions from experiance or just good old p-pump knowledge would great . thx goose

If you are going to grind your own you can try both and see which you would prefer. Every truck seems to be a little different in what plate profile it likes and for peoples different driving conditions and styles. I would suggest the 6 for now and if you don't really like it, you can try the 8 afterwards. In my conversion I tried a 10, 100 and 0 and I am going to try my custom profile once the truck is up and running again.

For towing? I'd run a #10 a hair back from full forward.
And only with a full set of gauges. If it's not enough
for you, you can slid the afc forward as well. Just
keep a good eye on your pyro at this point.
You can try a #6 but it'll probably be a bit too hot.
It all comes down to temps.

well, before you add more power, especially while towing, you MUST get gauges installed unless you like replacing expensive parts.....Keep your EGT's and trans temp in check and you will have no problems, your tranny should hold up just fine. When you say upped line pressure, do you have a valvebody or no?

im putting in the gauges in the truck b 4 the plate for sure. (two young kids at home so time is hard to come by) and yes on the valvebody. lm really just looking to build a really super solid and reliable tow rig. (and i kinda like to be able to aleast stick with my buddy's 04 cummins going up grades)

for 86 bucks or somethin' like that , i know. the best price i found around me (live half hour east of toronto) is $317.00, most places wouldn't go below 400. there's a couple reveiws that say they work just fine.
