FSS problem.Help needed
Truck is a 98 12V. Problem is that the FSS only energizes when cranking and the engine starts. As soon as you release the key to the RUN position, FSS de-energizes and engine dies. Jumped the relay and FSS energizes when jumped. Turning the key to the ON position before starting, the FSS does not energize.
1. Is the relay the problem?
2. Is the ignition switch the problem?
3. Is there any other circuit involved in the RUN position?
4. Any diagnostic procedures to help pinpoint the problem?
Got to get this fixed pronto so any and all help/advice most greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Got a hold of a good wiring diagram for the FSS and realiezd there are two circuits within. The PULL circuit energizes from the starter circuit and the HOLD circuit energizes from KEY ON. My PULL circuit worked fine since the truck started when the starter was engaged and the PULL circuit energized. When I put the key in the RUN position, pulled the plug from the FSS and probed the RUN circuit, I found there was 12V going to the FSS. Therefore, the FSS was bad.
Bought and installed a new FSS and the truck runs fine.
Hope this helps somene else.
