a 4 gsk is gonna make a lot more diff, a 3 gsk unless you tighten it down a lot isn't a huge difference. you will be far happier with the 4 gsk, and on stock fuel you will barely be able to hit 3500rpm so you can wait on the valve springs if you have to. a 3 gsk really isn't worth the amount of effort to do it for that little results, just my 2 cents from experience.

I agree with wpg. The GSK on it's own doesn't determine how high the engine will rev. There's more to tuning the pump to spin high than just the governor. My 4K kit didn't spin past 3K until several other things were done as well. I've been in trucks that had both though, and I think the 4K kit feels different right off the line from the 3K. I've heard people in here say it "fuels harder across the band". I'm not sure that's right, but I don't have a better way to describe it. Regardless, IMO if you're going to do it you may as well just do the 4K and be done with it.

You could always run a B&M ratchet shifter to shift from first to third. I don't know why your saying slamming it in gear if you start off in in first and go from 1st 2nd 3rd. it shouldn't harm anything. I also have one of those dials that set my overdrive... I don't remember what its called.

Ok so i decided to install the 3gsk from pacbrake which all it says to do is leave the little spring out if u want 3k.. so i left the little springs out and set the spring back to the measurement they were.. well yesterday i floored my truck in 2nd gear and it jumped straight to three grand where as before it only climbed to about 2500 before shifting so my shift points must of changed in some way by 500rpm... well today i floorex my truck in nuetral and it went straight to 3500 rpm so i let off quick i dont know how high it will go fully because i let off the pedal quick to get it below 3200 rpm .. so whats up with a 3sk spinning 3500 rpm? Did i do something wrong?

If a 3k kit is turning 3500, they may be a snug tight, turning them back a few clicks and try it then. You should not be running that engine past 3k.
I agree with white reaper as far as a ratchet shifter, you then have control of your shift points, and I believe that dial is a potentiometer?
