@ just another diesel guy. Only When I stuff it down It puffs black to 1500 then white smoke 1500-2k then slightly hazes white when it gets to the 2k rps being held at 2k. Timing was set at 15*. I got these injectors from DAP 5X.012 rebuilt ones which were supposed to be pop tested before being sent less then a year ago i bought them. I have personally thought it was an injection pump or maybe a delivery valve problem after changing all this stuff and the timing with only minor changes to the white smoke. I know the timing was slipped originally, which was my main problem. But replacing injectors fuel lines and fuel filter head made absolutely no difference in the way it ran. White smoke While driving was my main problem which was solved when it was timed at 15 degrees. But I know my warmed up truck shouldn't be puffing black then white in park. There is something else going on. I will try going slowly through 800-2k rps and report back I usually just slam the peddle to 2k and release to see my sample smoke. My passenger mirror is always pointed down to watch my smoke.

So really a 3 or 4k gov spring kit would be the next idea? I am gonna take off the AFC and see if the gasket is ok and move the plate forward a bit this weekend. Is it just all the stuff done without doing a 3k or 4k kit that is causing this white smoke only in neutral or park then? and the limit at 2300 just comes so quickly when stuffing it down it jumps up so quickly it is trying to put itself out to not over rev? delivery valve seals go bad often? or are they pretty stout? because the IP and AFC are the places where I have not really checked for air leaks, only before the IP i know it does not leak or suck air. Other then the AFC boost line.

It could be a bad dv, could have an issue further internally in the pump, could even be a bad injector.
So when does this happen and how.

mine sputters and pops at steady rpm
