Default thinking of swapping the Cummins out of my 96 ram 2wd into an 85 chevy 4x4

i have a 96 3/4 ton ram 2wd 5speed that is as reliable as they come outside of the occasional oil or fuel leak and a bad syncronizer on 3rd gear but the rest of the truck is wore out i am talking about the dash is missing chunks the drivers door is about to fall off and has to be kept shut with a gate latch but i have an 85 chevy 4x4 that was an old army ambulance with 5.77 gears automatic 6.5 diesel but the motor in that truck is junk the rest of it is in great shape does anyone have any experience or advice on doing a swap like this ? how much wiring is required to get a 12 valve cummins to run i dont mind wiring for power but dont want to get into a computer/sensor nightmare

Swapping the 12 is really easy of your mechanical at all really. Very minimal wiring involved. Basically like swapping 350's with a bit for fab work.

IZf you were smart .. Use the 47/48Rh .. dont bother with anything else unless you have a 5/6spd .... GM trans wont take the torque

don't bother with a dodge auto either. more s*** to mount up. Go with a manual.

a 47/48 rh can be made manual with a easy Vb swap and then 2 hot wires for lock and one for O/D .. then 2 grounds for those solenoids ..

Easy as Pie !!!
