2nd gen problems i should know
#31
I just picked up a 98.5 ClubC LB 4x4, and the only issue it has is a leaky front steering box. That's all with 265,000 miles buddy. no cracked dash, no droopy headliner, only a minor rip in the drivers seat because the first owner was a larger old man. The outside is straight as a rocket and has minimal to zero rust. All of this is coming from a guy who grew up with fords, loving fords. I don't want to judge but first gens are usually old, beat up, rust buckets that have to have thousands poured in before they're looking like a decent truck and not something my uncle billy lou in the mountains would drive.

Best tread lightly dissing the first gens round here junior. Those guys are sensitive
Back to your question, Killer dowel pin fix if it hasn't been done (google it, it's mandatory), boost, temp and EGT guages since I see you have an Edge box in a previous post. Adding power raises EGT's and can melt pistons so you must monitor this. If your dash isn't cracked, it will be. I would put a dash mat on it and maybe it never will.
By the way, go to the user control panel for this site and fill out the details of your truck in your signature so it's easier for us to answer your questions. Kinda like mine below. It's also best to start a new thread for your questions too so you don't end up cluttering someone else's thread. It makes searching harder for those in the future when threads are a mile long.
Go in peace.

Well, he said it's a 98.5, which I believe makes it a 24V. It also puts him in the wrong forum more or less. Then again, I thought the club cab ended with the early 98's and all the 98.5+ models were quad cab so who knows? Just my assumption based on what I've seen out there though, I've never been told that or seen any empirical evidence.
