Alright guys, Im having this issue with my trans, the trans temp light came up and it wont shift into OD, I came back home parked and took another car to work, next morning I go to turn it on and the light is still ON after seating all the day and night, I know is not hot so that makes me think that that is the trans temp sensor malfunctioning. Truck is a 97 cummins 5.9

Where does the temp sensor goes? I red that on the 97 it goes on the valve body, so i would have to remove the oil pan right? the problem is that i cant find that part anywhere, I need to see what it looks like to be able to identify it once i remove the pan.

Does anybody has a part#?? or is it the pressure solenoid that goes all into 1?

Check to make sure all your plugs on the transmission are still connected properly. Sounds like the sensor is done but it could be something as simple as a plug loose or a bad wire to the plug. Cheap fixes first over replacement parts.

 

I agree as well. ... Do check everything first
