Default Wait to start?

So I took my truck into the tranny shop again to have it checked out. They told me no tranny codes were found but they found a code "wait to start" andd some others. First of all is it possible to have it throw codes without the check engine light going off? Because the check engine light as never came on. And another question what does "wait to start" mean? And ive read that some guys have a "wait to start" light on there dash. what does the light look like? Thanks

Yes it is possible for it to throw codes with out the check engine light coming on. My truck throws a code every time I use my lockup switch. If you have a check engine light coming on for a 12 valve you have a serious problem. I've never heard of a " wait to start light" code. Some one else I here might know off the top of their head. But your "wait to start light" should only come on when it's cold out and when you initially turn your ignition on.

Cummins75 What year is your truck are we talking Electronic Tranny or the old RH? What is the initial issue that caused you to return it to the tranny shop? I have to agree I have never heard of a Wait to start Code, however my light comes on each start up even when warm but only for a second.

My truck is a 97. Not sure if thats electric or the older RH? But I took it back in because it wouldnt stay in 4th gear and it started sliping really bad AND the oil was burnt. They said that they didnt drain the oil from theTC when they rebuilt it. which was 2 days ago (from the time I brought it in) so they sent it to someone else and they found out that my throttle body linkage was worn out and it was making my computer twack out. But still why is there burnt oil? Why would they rebuild the tranny but not drain the TC? Im almost positive theres a way to drain it?

When you kill a trans, You should replace the TC , just easier and cheeper ( as there really is no way to flush out all the crud froma burned up trans.) ..

you would have a RE trans.... and the wait to start light is the only light that exists ... there is no code that I can find in the books ..... think someone is yanking ur chain !!!!

your throttle cable being in need of replacement would not affect the trans, the TV cable could cause issues with the trans .....
