Default coolant any idea

Ok guys any one have a clue what could of happened. like 3 months ago i changed my coolant hoses waterpump and thermostat. I dont drive my truck much but mainly out of town and on weekends. But the other day after sitting in traffic i pull in driveway and turn truck off and i smell coolant so i open the hood and noticed coolant overflow was almost full and no coolant in top hose . So worst case i was thinking headgasket as the coolant was kind of foamy but i did do fleetguard restore flush. And like 5 days later i go back coolant is back to normal with no oil in coolant are coolant in oil. So i drive the **** out of it and and i mean **** and no problems at all never did overheat ever even when i noticed it the first time. I just thinking maybe sticking thermostat or air in the system not sure any input guys thanks. And last i noticed radiator cap was a **** hair not twisted on all way if that matters.

hey, if it stopped doing it and it's not leaking anywhere, dont worry about it. it may have just got hot or something, and a freak occurrence happened. if it isn't giving you problems anymore, i wouldnt worry about it.

Sounds like you had air in the system and it found its way out. Just keep an eye on it and if it happens again try to determine the events that lead up to it.

Most likely you had an air bubble in the back of the cylinder head , it finally moved enough coolant to allow it to escape into the radiator and out, usually it will push coolant also , do keep an eye on it....
