I understand turbo ..... and I do agree .... I beleive in the insurance policy .... do it so it dosent become an issue... and the its nearly a wide open fun time after studs ... up to I beleive most start doing firerings at the 500-525 line ... what I was told as a safe line to draw ....

studs require machining .020 off the rocker pedestal so the washer and nut assembly clear the valve cover

my understanding from the guys at Dynamite Diesel products here in Washington and multiple other reputable shop's is that studs then 4k .... the pulsation and pressure caused by actually spinning 4K can overcome factory head bolts in some cases ...

I would save my self from having the possibility of the HG going south is my reasoning for the stud before 4K ... if he wants to do 4K then stud ... I would not recommend it .. especially if he has done timing mods and fuel .. has already has 1 of the 2 ingredients needed to pop a HG ...

I understand that like you turbo I too have much engine building ( 60 series,8v92,6v92,8v71,C15,3406,3126, ETC )...

Better safe than sorry is my Motto

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Rocker pedestal's get milled .200"

SO from the end of the pedestal with the bolt in it .. 1.10" towards the rocker and .200" down ... torque in sequence ( 3 equal steps to 125lb/ft. ).

This will be my first HG in a 12V but I have rebuilt a few 8.3's in the past as well ... almost identical .. just a bit smaller is all ..

Got a cylinder head 6 injectors and a colander full of bolts ..... ( Boss asked me ) can u have this by tomorrow @5 ???? .. dang ... not asking for much are ya ???... oh and it was in a blue bird , front engine of course ... what a fun job that was
