tach and speedometer quit

tach and speedometer quit
on my 97 3500 the speedometer and the tachometer have both quit .I also have a check engine light and the wait to start light stays on and apparently that isn't working either. what the heck

there is a pick up just above the Harmonic balancer ... it most likley has gone bad ..
when you install the new one ... use a single match book ( single layer ) to use as a spacer from the HB .. that should be right on the money ...
Of course inspect for broken wiring and such before buying parts ... and if you find a broken wire ... use a soldering iron ... no crimp fittings as the signal is reted in OHM's not volts ...
