no lockup at all with a manual switch. . .

well, not that I have really any experience with these things, but if everything that should make a part do something works, and you've checked that it all works, and that does not do that something when told to, I'd be looking into that parts integrity.

Basically, I'd be seeing if the tq still has the ability in itself to fully lock.

However, if I were you, I'd wait for a more reliable person than I.

My Ford was a bigger basket case when I bought it than my Dodge.
But with the amount of time and effort I put in, I made it into a great truck, and that truck & I went through a fair bit in our travels.
The Dodge will go a long way to beat that.

Anyway, lets keep the discussion on your issue.

sounds like either a lock up solenoid or the clutch in torque converter is toast .....

when was the last time you had the transmission service done ?
what are your line pressures ?
have u checked to see if the OD button in dash is not faulty ?

any of these things could be going in ..... if it were me .... find a reputable trans shop and have them diag ur issue's and save u some unnecessary parts and such ... IMHO of course ..
