The heavier VS helps control the valve more precisely, saving you a tone of parts that "possibly could be damaged" .
I don't think anyone was suggesting there wasn't a good reason, only that a 4K kit doesn't guarantee you'll be able to rev anywhere near 4K. Unless you tune it to run that high, there's no reason to rip the top of the head apart for them.

and if you do run it to 4K you'll find out what carnage will happen with factory springs as well .... It's ya'lls engine's ... when it breaks ... I wont be mean but I will say " i told ya so " .... then quote you to fix it right .... ... if you want some help that is ..Lol

no sence in not taking the proper precautions ..... its not cheep to rebuild a head and its really easy to do with the head still on ....

Mine won't even rev to 3500. Before I tune it to do so, I will do valve springs. If he has no intention of doing what it takes to even make it rev that high though, it's a waste of money. There's more to hitting 4K than a GSK, that's all I was saying.

Didn't want to start a new thread so I'll ask here, has anyone just tightened the factory governor springs up around 3 clicks instead of the 3k GSK? and what was that like? What are the bad points about doing that? I'm considering it just to get a couple more hundred fueling rpms before the truck taps out. I've got a 98 w/ NVG4500, fuel plate, some AFC mods/Tuning, and 4" exhaust.
