Default Help!, Cold won't start

Okay I think I have kind of touched on this before but winter is back where I live in Oregon and I plug my truck in now every night, Even then it will some times crank over but nothing no fire up. its bad when it sits from 5am to 3pm while at work. took me about 5to7 mins to get it started. cycled the wait to start 5 times. then once it starts its a lug lug lug lug. My ideal is close to the 500rpm but once warm it right where it should be. I have adjusted the start up ideal before why or how come it keeps changing on me?

What other things could it be? my friend has a 94 12v and he never plugs it in and it fires up every time as soon as you turn the key its on. mine feels like it takes couple seconds to start no mater what? Please any info help will be great. I really don't want to have to take it in to a shop!!

I would check the timing. When I bought my truck the timing was off. It would start fine but it would spit and sputter until it warmed up a little then would be just fine. I advanced the timing to 18*. Also if the timing is set too high it will do what urs is doing.

It's cheaper to check that, than start replacing stuff. My timing was fixed in about 45 minutes.

yeah make sure it not fuel pressure related .... need to get numbers ... put in a T between the IP and Lift pump ... any gauge will do .. need numbers ... hot and cold would be best , and then at full throttle warm too .... report back .

Okay well I stopped by the shop and the tech looked at it and said could be timing. But to first replace my Over flow valve so thats what my first step is. Also if it was the timing would that make it hard crank over with out staring random times when its cold out or if so the timing is out I feel like it would be doing it all the time not just once in a while? hope that makes seance. Also Front Pinion seal is leaking what size socket will I need and is it a Dana 60 front? thanks will update after the new over flow is in I ordered it from LarryB's crossing my fingers its the overflow.... any other ideas?

Hay i was looking for a good diesel spot in central oregon to get timing done I would love to know the price and how it went for ya at drunks diesel performance! Thanks -matt
I just did the over flow valve and injectors myself which helped my white smoke and cold starts a bit but i think timing is the best bet! going for 15.5* myself because i don't got headstuds.
