Building my P7100
Hi Guys,
I have been rocking the '92 Cummins in my truck for about 5 years now as my daily driver and I love it, but I think it is time to step it up a notch or two. It is rated at 192HP and that just isn't cutting it anymore. I don't want to go crazy with it or anything, I just want to get around 300HP out of it. From what I understand that is pretty attainable out of these things. It is my understanding that I can get a good percentage of that just out of modifications/adjustments to the fuel pump?
I have already bought the 60PSI valve springs, 4,000 gov springs and an AFC spring, but they are still sitting on a shelf in my garage because to be perfectly honest with you the prospect of digging into that fuel pump scares the crap out of me! Those things are SPENDY! So basically, what I am asking for is a list of what exactly I need to do to reach my 300HP-ish goal without sacrificing the longevity of the motor. I'd like for it to last for ever! It currently has 98,000 miles on it.
Also, I would like to collect all the parts up before I start pulling things apart so I can do it all at once and do it right. From what I have read the things I should be concerning myself with are: Fuel plate, star wheel, governor springs, delivery valves, AFC, pump timing, head bolts and injectors. If y'all could give me an idea of what I need I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks again guys for the help, and I hope that wasn't too long and drawn out. I tend to ramble a bit when I don't know what the hell I'm talking about.
