Fuel upgrades with stock auto 47RE
I have a 1998 12 Valve with a stock automatic transmission (with about 45k on rebuild). Its been taken very good care of, but I am not sure what the trans can take beyond my 4" straight pipe, and K&N intake. I put a set of 305's on it and lost some torque, and would like to make it up with some mild fueling adjustments, but a transmission upgrade is not in the budget for a little while yet. Anyone know if it can handle the stock fuel plate slid forward? I do have boost, EGT, and tranny temp gauges also, and dont drive too aggressively with it. Any insight would be great, thanks.
these trannys are lucky to handle stock power. you might be ok with a little added power. i wouldnt try much. my trans is built minus billet shafts and i still have to drive it easy with a fuel plate pump tuned 4 inch exhaust and 90hp injectors.
install a shift kit into your valve body. it will cost you $100 for the kit and the price of fluid. you will still need to stay out of OD when playing but you holding/clamping force will be much higher so you can bomb it a little more. and govoner springs are hands down the best $150 you will spend performance wise for a mildly build truck. it will make a different truck out of the old girl.
