High egt's
#12
Cw pretty sure(it's not the variable vane). Yes wot. Even with the pump set at stock? I only hit 37psi at wot. Maybe I'm just used to my old d-max; couldn't make it go over 1200 if I tried unless I turned it up. ( yes, this is my first Cummins, don't plan on ever switching from it)

So then I'm correct in assuming incorrect timing can cause high egt's with no smoke? Is there an easy way to check timing without pulling the front cover off?

Yup, shoulda done some research. Looked at my AFC, tamper proof bolt has been replaced with a regular, so somone has been in there. Haven't had time to pull it off and see just what's in there, but hopefully I'll get a chance after turckey day.
Still seems like I'm getting way high egt's though, even if I do have a modded plate. Cruising highway (flat ground), roughly 1800 rpm @ 70 I'm seeing 10-14psi of boost and 8-900 degrees on the pyro, and still no smoke to speak of... In any case I plan on throwing in a 4k gsk (w/ 60lb springs), new overflow valve, set timing @ 16.5-17*, and I was thinking a #6 plate (depending on what's already in there) and adjust the afc as needed. At least then I'll know what my truck is set at and can go from there...
