Turn you key forward. While the "wait to start" light is on , watch your battery gauge. when the light goes off the battery gauge should move up.

Also, does your motor turn over and crank fine?

Yeah my truck turns over great. It's just some times I have to cycle the key a couple of times due to the fuel shut off from what iv been hearing from y'all. Okay so the grid heater is only on tell the wait to start turns off? I don't know much about the electrical on vehicles. I might just stop by a shop and see if they will check it to see if the grid heater is working. And getting enugh voltage.

That will tell you. If its working you WILL notice gauge move. you cant miss it..

I'll have to wait tell this weekend before I can tare into fuel shut off. So when I pull it off and I go to start with it off should I except it to just fire right up or a no start? Okay I'll pay attention to the gauge in the morning when I start her up. Thanks for your help man.

Looks like my grid heater is working as far as the volt gauge moving a bit while the wait to start is on. I think I will pull the houseing off and put a temo gun to it to see if its hitting 500f. My block heater is nt working block isice cold after having it pugged in all night. so looks like that and a fuel shut off are my next fix. Thanks again for all who helped out. Cheers

ok. grid heater is working. yes. after you take fuel shutoff celenoid off. make sure the lever that is connected to the shutoff solenoid is in the up position and should fire right up. the to shut it off manually push down on the lever.

Here the deal. Theres a lever on the side of your injection pump. When the lever is pushed all the way down. It kills fuel and shuts motor down. When the lever is up. The motor is running. There are 3 actions the solenoid does. When the starter is engaged, power is sent to (RED WIRE) and it pulls The solenoid lever up. When The motor starts power is sent to (BLACK AND GREEN WIRE) which in turn, Holds the solenoid up to keep motor running. And third is obviously no power sent and turns the motor off. And of the 3 above could possibly not work.

So if you have someone to help you, watch the shutoff solenoid. When the motor is Cranking the solenoid plunger should pull up right away to allow fuel. Once motor starts, it should stay up. That would eliminate removing the solenoid. Like i said in my first comment, i do not believe its fuel shutoff... Although ANYTHING is possible. If your block is not the slightest bit warm in the moring, i would say it is the block heater. Let me know if you need more help!

I'm just going to throw this out there as the rig has 172000 on it. Could it be a bad OFV causing these starting problems. Just my 2 cents

Not yet I have ordered a new block heater and fuel shut off from Geno's. What and where is OFV located?

It would not start the othere morning at all worst its ever done I got out and manuly pushed my fuel shut off arm up a couple of times had my Fiance turn it over and watched and the the shut off looked to be working and the truck started. So I dont know if that can freeze up. So I said screw it buy that and a block heater. Hope that fixes it other wise ill be in the same boat. Got a new cable for the block heater should be nice its the one that is fixed in the bumber.
