unless you plan on 500hp+ no need for an intake, the stock intake works great, and the stock filter out performs the aftermarket units on every level

I can't tell you about the intake but I did put the 4" downpipe from the turbo into dual 5" straight pipes. I went with Silverline Stainless stacks. It's not been on a dyno but it seems to pull a little better and the stainless looks great. Not quite like chrome but I didn't want that anyway. If I do another one it will be with the same pipes. I bought the complete kit from them. No problems with fit or finish.
Stay safe out there.

Yep, you can do the PPE airbox mod for better airflow(basically opens the end of the box for 100% airflow into the filter) and make sure you used the "powerflow" stock style filter, its $100 but its good for up to 100-400k miles depending on conditions, Donaldson used to make a blue microfiber style filter but they must have stopped making it at GM's request, they started buying really cheap models from AC delco, but I found a place that sells a regular white Donaldson filter, so I buy them, much better quality

I agree with BriteWhiteRam, that the stock intake is good, but if you do go with an aftermarket intake s&b has a good one. As for the stacks I would do a 4" tb and 6" stacks, but thats just my 2 cents.

Stock may be good up to 500 HP, but in my oppinion i would buy a banks intake with the scoop. Not for nothing, but anything that flows better than stock is worth purchasing IMO. Plus the Diameter of the aftermarket intakes is larger which last time i checked = more airflow. The Banks intake with scoop is "suppose to" give you a gain of 28 HP over stock and 52 LB FT of torque over stock. Also the Banks intake with scoop is "suppose to" run 10 degrees colder than stock (highway). SO, if you are looking to build your truck up past 500 HP or if you just want some quick HP/Torque and to run your truck a little colder say do it. You'll probably see a MPG increase too, so hell im not seeing a down side minus the price $700 is pretty rough, but hey you get what you payfor. Banks does a ton of testing, a ton of research, and their products show it. LOL HELL Jay Leno has all his work done by banks. If i had as much cash as Jay (deffinatly have the passion for cars like Jay) then i would want to take my vehicals to the best. but thats just my 2 cents. O stacks, umm silverline is a fav in my book

IMO Banks is overated. sure they have some good products, and build some awesome project vehicles, but they're really not for the hardcore diesel head.

For example, go to a diesel pull or drag race and tell me how many competitive trucks are running banks products. They dont make aftermarket injectors, aftermarket turbos, head studs, propane, water/meth, or nitrous kits. Pretty much all they have is tuning (nothing compared to EFI live or PPE), intakes, exhausts, and intercoolers.

My definition of the best are the ones that are out there currently winning diesel competitions. I think the reason Leno uses Banks is because they are simply the most well known diesel performance company, just because of all their publicity.

Just my .02

Banks has the best intake according to whom? If you listen to everything Gale banks is shoveling then you deserve to lose your money to him, and if you think an intake is going to gain you 28hp... wow, good luck with all that, the Intake on an LBZ is very well designed, my filter is 8" in diameter, and flows almost as good, for longer, and is cleaner than any aftermarket unit out there
