I just got rid of my ppe standard and i loved it. i ran on level three but did play for bout 10 min on 4 and 5. level 3 is a good place to be.
the ppe will read pulse width but not balances rates so.... not a huge help. efi will read balance rates and everything else for that matter.
also when i wanted to get after it i would hold the button on the shifter in for longer that will take it out of od then i would put it in tow haul. i like the longer shifts in tow haul and the fact that it locks up the converter in 2nd

Well what I would do is drive it like I stole it in tow haul only and when tow haul was not on I drive like a grandpa. It seems to remember the shift points better. I like the high shift points cuz I can romp on it in third and get my jollies then let off before it shifts to 4th. Also when I turned it up I would take the od off to keep me from shifting into 5th.

I am not positive the 02 will disable the od the same. I know on an 04 lb7 and 04.5 lly you just hold the town/haul button in bout 3 seconds and the od with a / through it will appear on the dash. I don't think the 02 will allow it. I remember someone trying to lock out 5th for a dyno run and didn't have the option.
