Default LB7 intake box mod

To take off the stock air box loosen the two hose clamps on the intake tube on each end. a 5/16 or flat head screw driver would work fine.

Disconnect the MAF sensor ontop of the airbox and yank on the box upwards to remove it, its pressed in to fit there no bolts holding the box down. Once you have it out you can start cutting it up to let the air flow a little easier.

Heres some pics of my modded air box on my 01 duramax.

I took a grinder wheel and started to make swiss cheese out of my stock air box. I cut two sections out the front of the box so the air can ram in from behind the light.

and i got a little carried away and went ahead and removed the old intake slots that go to the fender:

Overall this is how it looks.

sure does, I don't think you absolutely need the two holes on the front, just the big one cut out should be enough for the air to move in. the things on the fender side can be left alone, but this is what i did.

Actually do NOT remove the slots going to the fender. This aids in flow direction and CFM. The LBZ system is what Txchristopher designed and GM stole since he didnt patent it so you can thank him for the lowered IAT and EGT's.
