Question running straight crude in a diesel

ive heard of but never seen a diesel run on crude oil that has been run threw some filters. i dont know if its true or not but i am curious about the possibility of it. i do know that allis chalmers produced motors that could run on straight crude but they were made a long time ago. any insight would be welcome
