diesel tow rig
Hi, I am new to these forums and want to build a tow rig/service truck. I have never owned a diesel just gas trucks and I am new to vehicle projects. I am starting in the Heavy Equipment trade(finished a pre-emp course) and have lived on a farm my whole life, so I have been around tractors and diesel grain trucks. I have never done a vehicle project like I said before, but I am always watching car shows (gearz etc.) and I read multiple articles and threads on forums about the projects I am interested in....So I am passionate/willing/want to learn and figure reading can only get me so far so I should try and tackle one.
One of my ideas/projects I would like to do is build a tow rig/service truck for me and to use on the farm. To tow other vehicles/parts(other future projects) and when I am not doing that have a toolbox, generator, compressor etc. to be able to fix things out where without taking it to the shop.
Being my first project I am not dead set on doing something specific. Just want to build something old and cool So i can gain experience and become a better mechanic. I have spent hours upon hours research where I should start but can't seem to decide on certain things to help get the ball rolling. I have been looking at older dualies(64 chev, 76 ford, 78 chev) as you can see quite interested in the older body styles haha. I have looked at diesel conversions, frame swaps etc.
If anyone could help me out I would truly appreciate it.
