Default Another "I wrecked my truck today" thread

Actually I didn't "wreck" mine in the normal sense...but was hit head on, intentionally in my OWN driveway.. I got home from work about 3:25 this morning and when coming down my street, I saw what looked like somebody parked around the corner by my driveway with their lights on. ( I live on a corner lot) As I got closer the lights went out, and as I went to pull in my driveway, I see a Nissan Pathfinder backed into my driveway with somebody sitting in it.(I'm thinking either burglar, or he's trying to steal one of my pups....not a good idea..) He looked surprised as my lights hit his face, and backed up a bit.. so I kept coming to pen him in. I thought I had him cornered, and was just about to jump out of my truck when this dumbass guns it and rams me head on.. not once but TWICE.. I threw it in reverse and was going to return the favor.. and he makes a sharp u-turn and heads through my yard, down the slope in the front yard hauling *** down the street.
I got on the phone and dialed 911, and am chasing him down the street while I'm talking to the dispatcher.. He had about half a block head start, which didn't last long.. I'm rattling off cross streets and directions trying to give them enough info to intercept us and get him stopped.. Meanwhile this guy's driving like he stole it. I'm following at what I consider to be a safe enough distance not to lose him, and came sliding around a corner which gave him a little bit of distance on me.. I VERY quckly closed the gap and got up on his *** at which time he slams on the brakes and I bumped him a little.. He locked the brakes up completely and I pushed him for about another 50 yards or so before he decided to jackrabbit again and took off down a side street. We went for another quarter mile or so before the PD intercepted him and chased after him. There were squad cars coming out of the woodwork.. (idiot drove right by the back of the police station).
At this point, I let them have at it.. and stopped.. Talked to one of the officers who pulled up by me, told him what was going on, so we go back to my house and make sure there wasn't somebody left in my house.
Got back to the house, and from what I can tell, I interrupted his plan to break into my house.. Nothing had been touched. Thinking about it later.. he couldn't have been there too long or my dogs in the back yard would have been barking and raising hell. The cops and I were laughing about how funny it would have been had he managed to get in the back yard, which is dark.. seeing how he wouldn't have made it out in one piece.
I have 8 half Dobmeran/half Black Russian Terriers totaling just shy of 700lbs in the back yard and they don't take kindly to strangers who don't belong. Not to mention they are blacker than the oil that comes out of my truck at oil change time, so they're hard to see til it's too late..
While talking to the cops, I found out they had run the plate, gotten an address, and contacted the highway patrol, the sherriff's dept. and the local police in the town he lives in.. so when he goes home, he's going to have a welcoming committee waiting for him. He lives about 30 miles away. They had to call the chase off because of him being reckless enough it was likely to take innocent cars out too.
I have to give the Longview PD a big thumbs up for their quick response time and all their help. It could have turned out a lot worse than it did.
Talked to the insurance company about 5 this morning, and they have already contacted the body shop...who in turn called me about 10 minutes ago. Can't ask for better service than that.
Now if I could just get Digger Dave to build me one of his front bumpers.... I'll post some pics of the truck in a little bit.
Helluva way to start my holiday weekend off...
Here's a couple of pics of part of the "mobile security team"

That's what I was trying to do when I was pushing him. He got lucky when I let off he gassed it.. and shortly after the cops took over.. I was trying to get him sideways and push him over on his side. I was PISSED..
So far, all I can see that's going to need replaced is the bumper assembly and the a/c condensor.. Bullet grill escaped without a scratch.

I'd a prob done the same thing you did! Wish you'd a caught him. Don't know if you like to whoop up on people (some people are not fighters) I don't like to fight but damn sure will if provoked! Would have been great to flip him like you said then just pummel his *** til Johnny law showed up - teach him not to jack with good, honest, diesel lovin folks!! Glad the trucks gonna survive and your not hurt! Crazy SOB could've had a gun or somethin!
