5.9l rough idle then blue/white smoke dies
hi I got a 2002 2500 4x4 quad cab. 118,000 miles a superchips tuner set on the tow setting.
today I was on my way out of town on the highway and when all of the sudden I could feel the truck missing then I was by an exit so I pulled off when I looked in my mirror I noticed a puff of blue/white smoke out of the tail pipe and rpm was going down so I shifted into neutral and tried cranking the motor and I got nothing. no codes were thrown or noting with the gauges. I did have like 80 miles till empty. checked the fuel filter looked good felt a little heavy but the housing did fill up when my friend turned the key. added 2 gal of diesel to see if my fuel gauge is off. I was beating on the truck a little more just stepping on the throttle before this all happened and my and my friend tried a little pulling each other this all happened 30 min before everything went wrong. I do have a fuel pressure gauge in my pod but I need a valve to hook it up to a line yet. do I just hook this into a rubber fuel line?
but when I try to turn my truck over it turns a little fast but that is probably due to no fuel and it being a high compression motor. I did just change the oil 4 days ago. checked the oil it was over a little but looked clean, antifreeze was good. don't see anything leaking from the motor.
how do I check the vp44? cause I just bought this truck back in February from a dealer that offered a warranty which should cover an injection pump. is their any sensors I can check?

I Used my code reader and I got p203,208 which is the engine heater grid for the air intake but when I did the key on code check on the dash I got P1693. I popped the intake off so I got it to fire with starting fluid.. so I'm leaning towords the injector or lift pump. I did replace the fuel filter

Usually youll get the 0216 code if the VP44 is bad, but its not a guarantee. Heres a very good link with info on the VP44. Good Vp44 Info to take a look at. - Dodge Cummins Diesel Forum
