You likely dont need a starter...

Go here:

LarryB's Dodge starting problems solved here.

Get the new contacts and plunger, Solenoid Saver Diode, and add-on Starter Relay kit. If your batteries are good - you wont have any starting problems for a very long time. -

I just did contacts and plunger in mine. Not Larry B's but bought locally cause I was in a hurry to get this fixed before I was left stranded. I think it cost me like $24. Pretty cheap fix compared to a new starter. -

after you turned the key and the truck started my starter used to stay engaged. I had to shut the truck off take the key out and wait for the starter to stop cranking.

Installed LarryB's kit and have never had another problem since. -

You best pull the starter. If you can do it with it on the truck your a better man than me. Seriously pull it and be done in a easy way. It doesn't take much to pull the starter. Need any help post back here and some one or I will jump in to help ya out -

na i wont need any help pullin it i was just wanderin if it was easy to do it while on the truck. ive pulled my fair share of starters. never a dodge starter, but i know a 7.3 starter is a biatch because of the top bolt it takes some creative socket wobble and extention combos along with a lot of patience., hopefully the cummins starter is easy to get off. -

not sure how exactly it sits in the dodge, but on my setup a 10mm 12 point ratchet wrench does a good job. -

Yes, you will need a 12 point socket or wrench. 6 points will not get it. -
