how do i get my fan off the front of the engine

 

There is a large nut on the backside of the fan. It is left hand thread, which means you push down on the drivers side to loosen it.
I had to clamp a vise-grip on mine (not too tight) and put the end of a 2X4 against it, and whack the other end of the 2X4 with a hammer.
There are other methods.

 

they also sell a wrench for it at the parts store, got mine at o'reilleys!!!

 

Yeah, you can also use a punch to break it free. Give it a good rap and it should come free.

 

or if you have an air hammer it will take it off

 

Oh, now theres an idea.

 

The air hammer method works,but be sure to use a blunt tip or you will destroy the threads and never get it apart! My large wrenches are at work,so I used a cresent wrench and a BFH! I have also pulled the whole assembly and put it in my bench vise.

 

i was out on a towing trip and had to change a fan. i bought a thin wrench from auto store. a quick wrap of a hammer (several) will work on the wrench.

 

You can also take the 4 10mm bolts off that bolt the whole assembly to the block.

 

i took a wrench and ones of those rubber strap oil filter wrenchs to hold the pulley and it was a sinch. the rubber strap oil filter wrench is what i use on every pulley now. you wouldnt believe how good it holds
