I thought about going to a 5spd but with a built auto you will have a much faster truck. Although I do prefer to drive a 5 or 6 spd. It really depends on what your going to be doing with your truck.

I will be doing a lot of towing of a 3 horse gn trailer and hauiling a trailer full of cabinets to the bay area etc. Not really looking for a drag racer. I just don't think I will get much out of my 01 right now to sell and buy a 5spd as I will have about the same into mine as I would selling and buying

Good luck finding a complete NV4500, how many guys do you hear going from the stick to the auto, compared to vice versa. Also, keep in mind you'll need a new input shaft for your T-Case, along with a different steering column, drive-shafts, cross-member, and computer (you can get by with the old one, but need to rig up a reverse light switch).
Its not an easy task, and its not as cheap as just swapping transmissions. The other thing you'll run into, is that you have (most likely) a 241DLD, or Dodge Light Duty T-Case, whereas the NV equipped trucks have the 241DHD, or Dodge Heavy Duty T-case, 29 spline input vs. the DLD's 23 spline.
I have a highly upgraded NV for sale, with billet everything, but no bellhousing or clutch to go with it.

NV4500's are pretty easy to come by cause so many different trucks use them and lot's of off road shops keep them in stock for the jeep crowd.
