Default WTT 4BT

I have a 4BT, runs great, in a bread truck right now with a blown trans.

Guy down the road from me has a shortbus he converted to a camper. He runs it with a chevy 350 right now but he's sick of the milage. He want's me to convert it to diesel for him. If I can make it happen, I get the keys to his closed down, 6 bay, 3 lift auto shop.

So I really really want to make it happen. But, I'm afraid the 4BT isn't gonna satisfy him, and told him to consider a 12V.

He says if I can find a 12V with an auto trans to do whatever I want with the 4BT...

So, anybody know of anyone with a 12v AND and auto, preferably with OD, that's lookin for a 4BT?

It's a VE pumped non intercooled model, other than that I can't tell you, every data plate I think should be there is gone. And if I can pick up a 12V with an auto, it'll come with an adapter for chevy transmissions.

Thanks...

the 4bt should bolt right up to his tranny, most bread trucks had turbo 350's or 400's. it would be simpler to just put the 4bt in there, turn the pump up a little bit, get the shop and call it good. then find another one.... there are plenty out there.....

Well, you're the second person to tell me that. How much weight can a 4BT pull around and still get good milage?

It has an adapter for a th400 so I wasn't worried about that. What I was worried about, is the milage he'll get. I don't wanna do a conversion for him and have him get like 12 MPG out of it. I honestly have no idea how much weight he'll have rollin down the road.

He just want's me to give the bus back when it does 65 all day at 15 or better MPG's so, I know I can give him that outa a 12v.

Good point... I haven't even measured it...

4BT it is. He'll at least be better off with that then the 350...

Obviously there are tons of variables, but you think he could roll at 65+ and still get good milage with say, 15-16000 lbs on it?
