I recently picked up an 09 CR and plan to send the Ecu to malone tuning
Fred's TDI Page. TDIClub.com. VW TDI Enthusiast Community
There isn't a whole lot out there yet for the CR tdi's. There is tuning, which has been producing some damn good results, but there isn't anything too crazy for those cars out yet. In time I can guarantee there will be great performance and economy improvements. I have faith that with shutting off and deleting items such as dpf and egr etc, the CR tdi's will obtain similar mileage to an alh, while putting out mustang gt numbers.
Lol good to know I'm not the only one thinking about a tdi along with a couple performance mods
the only thing that has been getting me is servicing and repairing them... Since they are German aren't they more expensive then regular cars???

I know this is an old thread, but depending on how much you want to spend, these motors can have quite a bit done to them. Simplest and best bang-for-your-buck is to do a tune from one of the specialists such as RocketChip, TDTuning, Malone, etc (spend a night reading up on the tdiclub forums and you will find a ton of information). If you want to go with a delete, then things get expensive. I believe there are production delete pipes, but much more expensive than the ones we think about for our trucks (near $1G). Also, larger injectors are possible, I believe from another VW application, and then a larger turbo as well from the CR170 motor from europe or custom.

Malone tuning is the way to go from what I've read, I have a 2010 jetta tdi and looking into dpf delete and stage 2 tune from malone along with an AFE stage 2 intake kit. Rawtek inc. Has a downpipe for $579 and tune from malone is $550. 3 inch straight pipe it and you will have impressive results, tune alone is 75ftlbs at the wheels.
