Bought my first TDI a couple weeks ago. 1997 Passat TDI, 5 speed, 132k miles, got it from the org owners with records since it was new.

Plan is to 2.5" straight pipe it this week, do a tune and nozzles next month.

2002 golf, pd150 intake mani, egr delete, kerma tdi q loader. 145k miles. 3" turbo back exhaust soon can't wait

What is the change in performance/mileage like in an 02/03 TDI with basic mods like exhaust and a tune?

Just having a time and an upgraded intake my car is probably 115-120 bhp from the 90 bhp.

2003 Jetta 5spd, cleaned intake and EGR, timming belt, all pullys, water pump at 80,000, EVRY mod, 45 mpg in town 49 mpg hwy.

The wifes car, can't do much to it, for now.

325,000 miles on my '01 Jetta with very few mods. Diesel Geek skid plate(essential) elephant hose mod,egr disappeared some time back but ASV intact. .216u injectors balanced and flow tested by Frank's VW TDIs,LLC in Lockwood,Mo. 55MPG ain't nothin'.
230,000 miles on the Boss' '04 Passat TDI, even fewer mods. Diesel Geek skid plate and gear driven balancer shafts(ouch)

Just picked up 2006 TDI with 130000 mile

so what is the pros and cons?

+ Great mileage and lots of torque
- The EGR setup will plug the intake manifold full and, if you try to use cheap oil, the intercooler will fill up with oil.

Just traded for an 06 Jetta 5 spd TDI. Straight pipe and supposedly had the ecu flashed. maybe one day put a box and some injectors in. For now just enjoying the ride
