Who has guages in their TDI?

i have installed boost guages on a few cars at the dealership .... honestly on a stock tdi i wouldnt really bother they hardly ever boost more then the should, usually a couple psi off and they set a fault and go to limp-in... i have never dealt with doin a egt on a never tdi but i honestly cant see it needed..... my friends mk3 tdi tuned on stock turbo hardly ever pushes past 1100 i hear 1600 is melting point , therefore i wouldnt be worried

if you do decide to get a guage set-up concept1 has alot of nice pod designs
engine gauges

The melting point of aluminum is much lower than 1600. For sustained temps, I imaging you wouldnt want to run it much past 1200F (at least thats the guideline that we follow with the Cummins).
Even in stock form, I think I would want a pyrometer to help know when its time to shut it down.

the tdi is modded , stock turbo at 25psi.... i have seen it hit 1100 twice, and that was on hard highway pulls.....

stolen from tdi club......
EGT+Boost Gauge
Not a performance modification but a precautionary modification. EGT gauges monitor your Exhaust Gas Temperatures. These can get extremely hot up in the 1600+ degrees range. Most EGT gauges go up to 1600 degrees and TDI owners have seen those temps with a few mods and extended 1-5th gear pulls.
A boost gauge is also recommend. Although right now it is not needed if you get a boost controller you definitly need it. This will show you how much the air is getting compressed from your turbo charger.

You only need two gauges, boost and oil temperature, if not already provided by the MFA( Multi Funktions Anzeige). Boost let you see something not usual, for example:boost leakage or to much boost.
It is possible to increase the boost without limpin' home mode.
Oil temp raises up quickly above limitations, if you modify. Temperatures at the piston are no problem due to hypereuretic pistons.
Turbo can modified with a watercooled KKK,not to drop EGT's, but to make live of the turbo easier.

i have a chip installe don mine but its only set on a mild setting right now and i can constantly push 28psi boost when i got my foot in it. just normal driving im between 8-10psi. everyonce and a while we have to shut teh car down and start back up due to gojng into limp mode for the overboost

Is there a boost fooler to keep it from going into limp mode for these or not?

Sounds like an oil cooler would be a good upgrade.
