Default Need advice on a new turbo for pulling ,,,

I need some advice I got a 1998.5 dodge cummins it's got a HX-40 right now I'm wanting to get a bigger turbo for pulling but not to big cause we want to stay in the modified stock class.. truck has 125 hp injectors which I plan on going to either 175 or 200 hp which I also need help on deciding. It has a 150 air dog. Cold air intake some tranny work done.. Im not sure which turbo and what size to go with also which injectors would be better ?? Thanks for any help.

well lets start with the "modified stock" rules that you pull by. If you can get us those then we can help better since without that there is no way we can say what turbo would be best since we dont know what is allowed

ok so thats what is commonly known as the 2.6 class....

spec for the charger should be 2.6" inducer bore measured with a 2.650 plug. inducer bore must be 3/4" long and compressor wheel has to protrude into the inducer bore 1/8" and the map groove cant not exceed .200"

this opens up a whole world of turbo options for ya so now more about the truck. auto trans? convertor stall speed? axle gear ratio? tire size? how much do you drive the truck?

It has a auto tranny. With a valve body ,,, 4:10 gears,, tire size 305 70 R16s ,,, I don't drive it daily mostly on weekends as for the rest of the stuff not sure I was looking at the HX-50 or the 55 turbos,, but I was told my truck has a t3 flange and I have only found t4s I guess it could be made to work. But I've read so much on turbos it's all starting to run together. ,, Thanks.

the 50 and 55 are not good choices they are very laggy....going to a T4 charger isnt a problem tho

i just have 2 more questions i should have asked last time. how important to you is drivability and what kind of budget are you working with....cause with pulling turbos they range from $500-$5000 for a "2.6" charger

Drivability is that important. Price range around 1,000

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Drivability isn't that important

a BW S366/73/.91T4 charger is going to be the least expensive option, that charger plus machine work to make it a bolt on for your truck would run in the $900 range

next step up from there would get into the S400 frame chargers and the box S465 dosnt fit the 1/8" protrustion rule without adding a billet comp wheel and at that point the charger would be over your budget

i would go with some large injectors and the 366 charger with your 3200rpm limiter i wouldnt step up to a S400 frame charger

i have a set of 7x012 SDX injectors that are slightly used but in like new condition for sale because i just ordered 6x018s and i can get you the charger, i will have to pm you the exact price on the charger because i'm not allowed to post prices in open forums

Does the box s366 meet the 1/8" protrusion rule?
