In a 5 spd, 4th gear is your straight threw gear. In a 6spd, 5th is your straight threw gear. I have pulled in 2nd high a few times and depending on the track is also a decent gear selection as long as it is a tight track.
what kind of rpm are your turning ... 4th low with 35" tires is a monster gear

I leave the line at 3500rpm's and it drops down to around 2800rpm's, but with in mind it is still a vp44 truck...the problem that i have if it is a dry track and i pull in too low of a gear, i blow the tires off and it quits fueling over 3000rpm, so the sweet spot for my truck is somewhere in between 2700 and 2900 rpm...

I Have a few buddies that pulled with trucks that high. You need a good sturdy hitch set up and some traction bars because your going to get some serious axel wrap
