Default Need tip on building a pulling truck

I've got an 89 Chevy 2500 that I'm going to build into a pullin truck. I'm replacing the the front axle w/ dana 60 and going to put a 12v Cummins in it. I'm going to use a 4500 for transmission. I'm curious what type of suspension set up works best for Pulling, Leaf sprung or coil over? also what gears, and tire sizes are people running? Hitch and ride heigh? how far can the weights extend from the front axle? Any tips, pictures, and advice are welcomed. Thanks in advance!

Well your starting off good with the 12v and the dana60, and tranny, as far as suspension, you will probably have better luck with coil over in the front, the rear well, probably leafs, depending on the class or organazation you will be either fully blocking or limiting the travel in the rear. With a 5sp tranny you will probably need to run 4.88-5.13 gears. 33 or 35 12.50 tires. Hitch all depends in class,i assuming a street style class, you will be limitied to your reese style hitch, but i would move it twords the front of the truck on the frame. buy or make a good adjustable hitch, most places or 26" hitch hieghth. Weights can extend no more than 60" fron the centerline of thr front axle.
