Default idi puller?

im really interested in building a sled pulling truck and i know that i can get my hands on an old idi ford fairly cheap nd as wanderin if hse are mildly goood pulling trucks. im going to have to buil it on a budet.any ideas would be hlpful. thank you

I'm sure there are tons of guys on here with more experience than me but I would say it all depends what class you are going to be trying for... a street stock or run what you brung type of pull would be fine but really anything above that and you are going to be working twice as hard to get the truck to perform the same as a stock newer truck... not trying to discourage you just saying I doubt the motor would be a good choice for a higher end puller

Just Move The Damn Thing!

I dont know much about the idi fords but I do know somethings about under dog pullers! The crowd loves em! Get what you can afford, dont worry about winning, go have fun!!!

well that motor is strong but as far as power it wouldnt be a power puller but hey good luck on your endeavor

if anyone knows of a cheap 1stgendodg 4x4 id be extemely interested, it could need a whle lot of work tha wold be fine by me.

The IDI's are capable of making some good power it just wont be easy lots of sourcing and stuff I have been looking into it and if you want power it wont be a budget truck. As for just going out and having fun heck just enjoy the ride man.

You wont be at the top of the class with a stockish truck but I've always wanted to try. Better wait till I get my H1C on though

a long time ago i heard of an old 7.3 natural that was a mean puller but i have no idea who owned it what it looked like or anything about it the person who told me about said it exploded the block the last he heard but hasnt seen or heard from it again

pulled against a turboed 6.9 idi dont know the size of the turbo but he had quite a bit of pump work as well as other stuff (not real educated on my IDI's) and outpulled him by 45 feet with pump tuning single disc south bend 1st gen dodge. and down shifted from 3rd to 2nd at 100 feet.
