Default Going to the Mountains

In less than a month, I am heading to Colorado pulling our 8,000 lbs trailer through the mountains. I just had gauges put on about 2 weeks ago so I can monitor my parameters. Has anybody used a Smarty Jr. in the mountains and left it on the performance mode (#3)? I am just wondering if this setting my put my EGT's at an unsafe level and want to prepare accordingly. Also, what is the max tranny temp I should see towing through the mountains?

Just got back from there but I didn't pull mine in the mountains. I have an edge so can't help you there. Ideal tranny temp is under 200 but that won't happen once you get to the mtns. A more realistic goal there is 225-250, ideally under 225.
Have fun!
