When I checked into it they wanted over $2000 every 6 months for commercial insurance on my truck. This was just enough insurance to meet the Illinois minimum standards and not some fancy policy. This also doesn't include getting bonded and this is also a nessecary evil. I didn't even get far enough to look into that, I quit after the insurance quote.

one truck is a 2003 duramax GMC and the other truck is a C4500 chevy with a duramax, their backup truck is a flatbed 2003 chevy with a 8.1 and a allison, they use a 5 car wedge behind both trucks and they have a backup 3 car wedge, if i could pass my DOT physical i would of drove for them, but i knew that wasnt going to happen any time soon, plus for all my stickers and insurance was 12K, then i had to pay them a "rental fee" for running under their business license and dispatcher and either buy a wedge or rent their 3 car........so im already 20K into the hole starting out and i dont have that money........and that wouldnt be the best idea with a 18 year old truck that might break down at any given moment......like it did to me.......

not to mention my truck is a gutless wonder in the mountains, be ALOT worse in the mountains with 3 small cars on a heavy trailer behind me......

and yes that is what they cleared......10-20 cars a week at 400-500 a car.....if they dead head the price more than doubles......they are hauling for the ohio auto action, sometimes they would haul 10 or 15 cars a day depending on where they went......if you do a few short runs between columbus and kentucky a day you make killer money that day......

If they're runnin 2003's I don't see how they are puttin enough miles to even make that before expenses. Most of these guys trade trucks in every year cause they are runnin to many miles to be dependable over the road after the year. 150-200,000 miles per year is not that unusuall for these guys and more if they're runnin teams.

the C4500 had almost no miles when he bought it about 6 months ago, the duramax was like 100K when he bought it.......his son pulled with the 8.1 for a long time.....he also does about 99% of the upkeep o nthe trucks cause he is a ASE certified mechanic with a nice setup.....the guy was loaded to start with.....
