Default What gears?

I currently have 3.55's and I'm looking to go lower. I haul about 13,000lbs trailer included. One person tells me I need 4.10 another tells me 4.10 will kill my fuel mileage. I almost never drive on the highway at the most in one month I might drive 200 miles on the highway. Most of the time my truck only sees 55 and on a week day I only drive 1-2 miles a day. So what's yall's opinion should I change them out or stay where I'm at.

Is the trailer a daily haul or occasional haul an what size tires are you runnin. I haul that much weight and more all the time with 3:55's and 33 inch tall tires. I'm also a flatlander though, hills or mountains would change this and any bigger tires would also force me to change this.

I thought about this same thing for a while but just changing the gear sets out is a pain and trading front and back axles is even more of a pain.

No it's not daily Its our mud toy the 97 f350. When we haul it to a actual event there is lots of hills and curves lots of back road type traveling with no mountains. But alot of the hills we do climb we have to get almost a running start and if someone slows us down right before the hill we are screwed and in like 3rd gear the whole way up. If I did decide to switch it out it would be awhile since we cracked the trans in half on the ford last weekend . So the farthest it might go for awhile is Austin which is basically a flat drive all the way there other than that it will be around here locally. I'm just trying to get a idea of what I want. I had someone that was going to trade me but he
has a 70 and I have a 80. Also I'm running 285/75's

it all depends on weather u think it would be worth spending the money on it. imo, if ur not doing daily, or every weekend it wouldnt be worth it to me.

Just save yourself a lot of trouble and fuel when your not pullin and get a SMARTY, they add a good amount of low end torque for pulling and add some fun to the truck at the same time.

Yea maybe we will try a friends smarty. With the ADR we have to put it on like level one or two and even there on hills we will get close to 1200. But I love my adrenaline normal driving.

I love my Comp for the daily drivin to but when I hook up the trailers I'd turn the Comp off and just use the Smarty. The Smarty was the work horse.

only problem is that the taller gears ain't just a direct drop in...the 80 uses a different carrier on the 3.55's and the 4.10's....

so i'd just stay w/ the 3.55's and get the Smarty
