97 12v 5speed, 26' travel trailer mpg estimates?
just lookin into the possibilty of buyin a bumper pull travel trailer, the ones im lookin at have a slant in the front for aerodynamics, are 26' long and around 6800 lbs, dual axel. just seein if the mpg will be so low while pullin it it wont be cost effective enough. i have my 97 4x4 12v, 5speed, im currenty gettin round 19 to 20 unloaded mpg, just seein what yall would expect to see mpg wize on fairly flat ground hwy driving. thanks for any help.

well i bought a travel trailer, its a 23foot, 4000# bumper pull. i only get 11.5 mpg towing it at 57 mph in 4th gear. at 2200 rpms. on I-20 headed east out of dallas. im gonna try and do a few things to my truck to get the mileage up while towing. im gonna try 5th gear at around 62 mph that will put me at 1750 to 1800 rpms. my egts will be warm but ill try it and see if the mpg goes up any.
