Question Aux Fuel Tanks...

What size do you have?
What size bed?
Have you had any issues?
Is yours a tank / toolbox combo?
Does anyone make a kit, or know of a good kit for connecting an aux tank to the factory tank for convenience, so you don't have to stop to get the extra fuel?

Any and all comments welcome!!!
Thank to everyone in advance...

If I did any amount of traveling I'd have one. And I think
it would be a toolbox combo. As for an auto transfer, I
don't know that that would be a necessary feature.
A guys got to stop to fill up his coffee cup anyways, so for me
to have to open a valve wouldn't be the end of the world.

Way I did mine: Aux Fuel Tank Install Paper

My son and I went on a +7000 mile trip this summer out to the desert, about 5600 of that was in my PSD. We only filled up with diesel fuel four times while on this trip. Pretty convenient. We used the Pilot and Love's truck fueling stations.

Good luck.

Al

I have a 110 gal transfer tank with a Delta champion box on top of it, they both stick up above the bed rails about 4 1/2 inches, looks like a tool box combo but much larger. I didn't like the tiny tool box on the combo. This is in an 8' bed. It fills the entire area from in front of the wheel wells to the cab. I just use the transfer pump mounted on the drivers side to fill up. I have no problem pulling a 5th wheel trailer with this set up. Works well for me and have had tons of guys check it out and want to know where I bought it.

Got a tank made to my dimentions, w60''x h18''xl36 sets about 1/2" above the bed rails, with a s10 tool box in the "L". its got 3 2"bungs on top, left and right for filling from semi pumps, and middle has a small fuel transfer pump hooked to it, then got a 12v wire running inside that i plug into the cig lighter. The 3/8" hose comes out of the tank clear so i can see how its pumping, and is regular fuel hose after the pump running to my truck tank vent tube. it holds 110g with 100ish useable. I put a small marker light shining on the clear line for night time vis that is wired in with the pump, it will sphion down to approx 1/2 once primed, then have to plug it in occasalnaly to keep the truck tank full.
Only thing bad is i only have a 3/8" line so it takes about 10min per 1/4 of a tank, relly ez to leave it running to long, and coat the side of the truck and trailer in ULSD(done it few times).
will try and get a pic if someone wants one of the setup.

I made my own tank I put my tool box at the front of the wheel wells and then had a sheetmetal shop bend the metal for me.Welded angle iron on the ends to mount it to the truck .Put 2 2" pipe couplers on the top to fill with. I capped one and got aventer cap from NAPA for the other one. Put 2 1" couplers out the bottom, pluged one and put a ballvalve into a filter them a solenoid then into the extra vent in the top of the tank that is capped off. Ran the wire into the cab and mounted switch on dash. works like a charm and holds 85 glns
