It don't matter what what brand of truck, what brand of motor, or what year you get, there is no such thing as only doing two mods. Once you make that first mod that increases HP you create a new weak spot that has to be beefed up. Once you have that area beefed up then want more HP. It's like a sled goin down a snowy hill, once you get goin it's next to impossible to find a stopping point half way down.

My truck is equipped to be nothin more then a daily driving farm truck that I pull trailers with and I couldn't ask for a better work horse but it's been an expensive road gettin to this point.

I agree with them, no matter which truck you get, you will be doing more than one mod, in my personal opinion, you cannot beat a D-max for a family rig, as well as towing, I use mine to haul regularly, and have yet to have problems, but I also have many mods to the truck as well...

I'm very familiar with 12v's, but I don't see doubling the power for under $300... gutting the AFC is neato with stock injectors, but once you get some real sticks, a properly functioning AFC will help turbo spoolup.

The 12v cummins is quiet simple and dependable, 17.6 MPG with mine stock. Drove a DMAX powered GMC that got 21 MPG. First mods could be cold air intake and exhuast, just my .02

The above statement is completely true. But what do you want to use the truck for? Pulling the fuel plate and spinning the star wheel will double your power. If you have an auto, plan on a tranny very quick like, if you have a standard, consider your clutch gone. Its not that easy to make a dependable truck.

It is easy to make a dependable truck, leave it stock. I love mods and what they do the truck but like many before have said, a programmer and exhaust. that eventually leads to a bad tranny which leads to a beefed up one which leads to dual cp3s and compound turbos and so on and so forth it never ends really I like where mine is at now but it's no where near finished

are you talking about a first gen forrest? cuz you can not beat a 2nd gen for towing. and yes, two mods will more than double the power output

1) grind the fuel plate

2) change everything inbetween the air filter and ex tip ()

you know what i mean...start with the air filter for the 'in' and with the ex tip for the 'out'....change everything inbetween and your truck will fly

all i did was bolt a #10 plate in mine, some 5x12 sticks and it flew, even with the stock turbo!

set up like that (with 3.55 gears and a nv4500 5 sp) (oh, you are gonna have to put a clutch in it - the $2000 kind) none of my buddies with powerstrokes or duramax's want to caravan with me to the races. seriously. i have less than 8 grand in my truck and they have over 50 in theirs and are embarassed to not be able to keep up. last time we went to vegas my buddy with a chipped duramax had a big problem with just the first grade leaving vegas (after state line). his truck got hot, went into limp mode, and he could only go 40 mph all the way to baker. . there he disconnected the batt and it reset itself. i will never buy a high pressure common rail - never. not when these p-pumps are so simple and reliable and easy to get power out of.

do yourself a favor and buy a '97 or '98 12 valve dodge

you will love it!

I second that, I have a 97 12V with a five speed.....and Mine is realiable as a 2009. Because I left it alone!!!! Dont need a new clutch, not rolling coal, just driving it as a daily. It is slow, very slow, well for a 8000lb truck. And I'd love to bomb it to get double the power, but I drive it like this and it will last forever, and I don't want a new truck I like mine. So I reccomend finding a nice 97/98 12V with a 5 speed and leave it alone.

Or you can wait a few months when my daughter is born and I sell mine!!!
