Well my Dodge comes with the rails mounted in the bed of my truck for a gooseneck hitch. That leaves me to beleive that a plate type hitch attaches to the rails. However, there is also a hole cut in the bed, which makes me think otherwise. If you go to Truck Stuff USA- Truck Accessories SUV Accessories Bed Covers Tonneau Covers Nerf Bars Bed Liners Truck Tool Boxes Floor Mats for Chevy Ford Dodge Nissan Trucks, it looks like the rail set up on the white pickup in the picture. Only difference is, the rails are positioned differently. One is toward the cab, the other toward the tailgate, instead of mounted toward each side of the bed. Would the hitch advertised still work? Has anyone seen a setup like this? Any advise would be appreciated. I am going from tag to goose, and I'm trying to order my parts from Iraq so when I get home they are waiting on me and I can get to work on the truck. Thank you in advance for any input.

 

If I'm readin this right I would be inclined to think that they previously had a hitch like a B&W, removed it and went with somethin cheap for the next one. May even have pulled the B&W out so it wouldn't go when they sold the truck and just mounted some cheap style of rails to kinda cover the hole in the bed. After years in the trailer parts business though I always tell folks that I had two kinds of customers when it comes to Gooseneck hitches. Them that buy B&W and them that wish they had at some point down the road. This isn't an advertisement per say cause I'm not a dealer anymore but it is an endorsement. Them B&W's will last forever, take any abuse you can throw out, easy to install, simple to use and the company will replace anything you ever manage to break on it, if you do.

GET THE B&W. I am totally in agreement with Uncle Bubba. I have one in my truck, and I've pulled way more than I should have with it, and its never given me a lick of trouble. Not just that, but when you flip the ball over the bed is completely flat, you can load sheetrock in there without the worry of the safety loops denting the drywall. Plus if you go to the drive in like I do you and your lady can lay down in the bed without getting poked by the hitch (unless thats what you call yours ). Its worth the money! Then theres the fact that you always know where your ball is, just pull the pin, hop in the bed, flip the ball over, and lift the pin to let it pop back into place. I used to go through a ball a year, just because I'd leave it somewhere, let somebody borrow it, or whatever... Not with the B&W, its always ready to go, no need for any tools, just flip and go .

 

if I was you I would get rid of the rails & get a B&W system . if you look back some where in this section you will find a post about B&W hicthes with some pics

I'm in the same boat with the parts thing man. I'm gonna have some work to do and the parts waitin when i get back. I think what your dealin with is actaully a 5th wheel setup. From the ones I've seen, they slide the 5th wheel like you'd see on a semi on those rails and the hole is probably from where somebody's had a ball for a gooseneck.

Hey ruffman, thats the EXACT rail setup I have in my bed. So you have a Draw Tite on there? How and the world does it stay in place? Is there a place for safety chains? If you truck is higher in the rear than normal, would the draw tite hitch affect this set up because it raises the ball that much higher. Sure wouldnt mind getting a B&W, but I see no reason to spend the extra money if I can get the draw tite cheaper, if in fact it is a quality hitch. Never gave you troubles Ruff? Anyone else? What is the max weight?

 

Don't want to beat a dead horse if you have your mind made up but that hitch your showin cost more then the B&W does.
