I know a few people who have RV'd all their life in Gas trucks. Mostly 3/4 ton and one ton Chevy's they pulled holiday ramblers and hauled mine one time for me which was 14K.

Not saying it can't be done with a gasser, but a diesel will keep you from being so close to max towing weight all the time.

I would rather have a diesel any day. I guess the main reason I was recommending gas is sounds like he only hooks and pulls about twice a year to head to Florida. The rest of the time he would use it for grocery runs and stuff.
