Problems towing with a Mega Cab
I recently purchased a 2006 Mega Cab. the previous owner had installed a B&W turnover ball. I went to pull my trailer for the first time and clipped the cab with the trailer though I had the 4 inch extension it. I've been told to get the gooseneck extension also, doesn't it just push it back during straight travel? Won't I still have a chance to catch the cab if I jackknife trailer when backing it up? My trailer is about 6"wider than my truck on each side.
Well, honestly you proably got the wrong kind of bed to tow a trailer like that, they have a goose neck extension and yes it puts the ball farther back from the cab and the father back from the cab the less likely you will clip you cab again.
I want to know if anybody used an offset gooseneck in a short bed and how well it works with a large trailer?

Here is my truck and trailer. Has a leveling kit, that is why it looks like it is sagging.

I am on a limited budget. I can't throw $1000+ at this. Thank you for the option but it is not feasible for me, but if you know anyone who has run a off set gooseneck in a short bed and can point them my direction it would be greatly appreciated.
i know what you mean about budget. i tried every way to pull my camper on a ball like my other truck was. i can pull a narrow trailer but not a wide one on the gooseneck.
