Trailer weight ???
Well , I'm in the market for a new horse trailer with living quarters . Problem I have a 06 dodge 2500 . I've hooked to a trailer that was too much for my truck . Problem is I have no idea what it weighed . But the trailer I want weighs 8600 with a16800 grose and a estimated 2800 pin weight . I don't want to spend 50k on a trailer and have to replace my truck. From the research I've done I think 90% of the trucks hooked to trailers are overweight, and seems almost stupid to even offer a 3/4 when payload of 1 ton srw is only a few hundred pounds . But can my truck safely handle this trailer , I know factory weights are really consertave otherwise everyone pulling trailers would be using tractors
The gvwr of the trailer alone is 16800 empty trailer weighs 8600 . So truck and trailer empty is around 17000 ?

Someone has to have some input . Is 2800 lbs too much pin weight ? That's my main concern

What axle ratio do you have? With 3.73's, it may be close if not over what the rating is. With 4.10's, you should be fine.
What load range are your tires? If you have E tires, they will hold up fine.
E tires, Air Bags, the proper trailer brake controller, hook on and GO!

My step mom has a 2004 or 5 CC short. She has a Featherlight 3 horse with LQ. Only problems she has is that the trailer is 8ft wide so she has to use the B&W trailer neck extender to set the trailer back so she can turn.
