Help me decide on tires!
I've narrowed my selection down to 4 different tires. All of them are 315/70R17 and are D-Rated. Let me know what you guys think!
Kumho Venture A/T KL78
Kelly Safari TSR
Yokohama Geolander A/T-S
Hercules TerraTrac A/T
If any of you guys have first hand experience, let me know! I need all the help I can get...

My truck is my daily driver. The only time it has a trailer is pulling my rock crawler up in the woods. I also use the truck for hunting, camping, fishing, etc but that is mainly gravel roads. We don't get a ton of snow where I live but we do get our share of ice, so that needs to be a factor. As for an E rated tire, I would love to but the few e rated tires in that size are way out of my price range.

I thought about using D rated tires until an Insurance Agent informed me if I did so and got in to an wreck the insurance company would use it as an excuse to reduce coverage or they could even not cover a wreck being the door plate and manufacture states to use tires that are E rated. Thus using a tire that does have a E rating a person opens them selves to a lot of personal liability that your insurance may not have to cover.

I lived in Oregon for 18 years, until 2005, 16 years was in the Gresham/Troutdale/Fairview area and it was my then Oregon agent who told me about using the wrong tires on my truck. Also living here in IA the past few years near I-35 and have gotten to know the local tow truck company owner I have gotten to see first hand pickup trucks that had D rated tires blow them out on the Freeway, some empty others just pulling a light 2500 lb trailer, some loaded to the gill and seeing all of those wrecked trucks gave me more reasons not use D rated tires, so I wish you the best of luck.

I run the kellys on my bronco. I know that doesnt help any in the way of how they work for a heavy truck. I personally love the tires. They look mean. They are dead quiet. Dont throw a lot of gravel. I havent really had them in any real mud, it hasnt rained enough in the past 2 months to wet the topsoil really. I have only had them for like 500 miles though. They were hands down my choice because they were about 200 cheaper than any other tire close to the same. The guy who installed them said one guy runnin them muds a lot and he loves them. The dealer told me they were Kellys version of the GY duratracs, which is what I really wanted but didnt want to lay down the coin for them. Hope that helps. Ill let you know as soon as some snow/ice comes how they do in that
