Default Cognito levelinng kit, Caltracs traction bars

All,

I have a 2003 ext cab long bed Duramax, and am currently running 285/70 BG All Terrains on some 17 inch wheels. I would like to get a little bit bigger of a tire on my truck, but i need to put a leveling kit on to do it.

Has anyone put the cognito upper control arm leveling kit on there duramax? if you have what size tire can you get under the wheel well. I am also wondering if anyone has flush mounted the bumper to get rid of the gap under the lights and grill, if so how did you do it?

Also was wondering if anyone with a stock height truck has installed the caltrac's traction bars on there truck?

Thanks for the help

Karl

Cognito is the way to go on these Chevy IFS front ends.

Here is what I have as guide lines for tire selection and other good info for this kit on our site:

Note:
  • Lift "Keys" are not always required but recommended for truck years 2001-2005.
  • Cognito Leveling kit is designed to level a HD truck, but if you would like to add a block to the rear to regain a "rake" stance you can. We recommend between a 1"-1.5" to retain a factory looking stance or "rake".
  • Over-Cranking the suspension will affect ride quality and is not recommended.
  • The distance between the upper A-Arm and the metal bump stop should be no less than 3/4".
  • Recommended max tire size for BEST results - 33” Tall x 11.5” Wide.
  • Recommended max aftermarket wheel for BEST results - 9" Wide with a backspacing between 4.75"-5.25" / Please note that your wheel B.S. changes how close the tire side wall is to possibly rubbing on the Cognito UCA.
  • Max tire size on stock rim 285/75R16 or 285/70r17.
  • GM H2 wheels will fit with 285/70r17 tire size.
  • There are many tire and wheel combos that can work on this kit (some fit better than others). The key is to keep the wheel and tire combo from sticking out of the wheel opening so you have little to no rubbing at turning on the fender and or bumper, BUT also not running such a heavy backspacing that your tire pulls in close to the UCA and ends up rubbing.
  • Have the vehicle professionally aligned to the following specifications for the 2"-3" kit located in the installation instructions.
  • Download Installation Instructions: Here
  • Tools needed for install: Torsion Bar Key Tool, Torque Wrench, Metric Sockets to 22mm, Metric Wrenches to 22mm, Tape Measure, Hydraulic Jack, Jack Stands, 1/2" Impact Gun and Compressor, Grease Gun, Good Size Hammer

I have sold and installed TONS of these kits and we have a pretty nice package line up that will be based off your budget and needs depending on the amount of upgrades. If you would like I can PM you the package line up to look over. Yes it's not cheap but most my package sells come from frustrated buyers that started off doing the cranking or key kits and was not happy, if you do the research or even ask me the questions that you need to better understand where your money is going I can say 100% you will be happy with your purchase from our basic package all the way up to our full blown Fox edition package.

Let me know.

Default 2012 duramax stock height right now planning on cognitive leveling kit

2012 duramax planning on cognito leveling kit. I have 20in XD rims with nitto terra grappler tires.(285/55/20) when leveled I wanna put nitto trail grapplers 295/55/20. Will they fit? The 285s are pretty close almost rubbing but not running at at. I'm planning on getting the cognito 2-3 in leveling kit with upper control arms and just the shock spacers for stock shock.
